3.5v Coaxial
Ophthalmoscope
The
ophthalmoscope is used to view the back of
the eye, commonly called the fundus. This is the
only place in the body where blood vessels can be
seen in their natural state without surgical entry.
This is why Welch Allyn's innovation of the world's first hand-held, directly
illuminated ophthalmoscope was so important back in 1915, and remains so today.
The ophthalmoscope enables you to determine not only the health of the eye, but
also a lot about the patient's
overall health. Early signs of diabetes, hypertension,
and neurological conditions can be diagnosed with the ophthalmoscope.
Coaxial optical system provides easier entry into small pupils and a larger
field-of-view of the fundus, so
you'll see what you need to see.
Halogen HPX™ illumination provides 30% brighter and whiter light than regular
halogen, for truer tissue color rendition.
Compact size makes access to all controls easy and convenient, which makes
learning faster.
Triple-sealed scope keeps dirt and dust away from optics, for years of
maintenance-free
viewing. Includes 28 built-in focusing lenses. Continuously rotating aperture
selection dial
provides 3 aperture/spot sizes, cobalt blue filter for use with fluorescein on
the cornea, fixation target to map the location of lesions, and slit aperture to
observe elevation changes.
Filter selection switch provides red-free filter for high contrast and easy
identification of
arteries and veins, and cross-linear polarizing filter to eliminate unwanted
reflections
(both filters can be used with all apertures).
